This week I come across several popular pickers. I first started with AnimSchool picker and thought that it would work perfectly and save me extra time of searching and testing. Unluckily it is not. I screwed it up twice and had to rework totally before I knew that the namespace shouldn’t be deleted. Similar issue was mentioned in the official forum so I hope there’ll be a update soon.
Hoping for a better one I found and tried some other alternatives: abxPicker, anim picker, and MG picker studio. But after all I stick to AnimSchool one, because
- the marquee selection, which is not possible with picker written by MEL, is lovely to use
- color feedback avoids accidental selection of unwanted controls
- button creation process is much more intuitive among the others
- well, it’s free
Did you really check out and dig in the MG-Picker Studio? 🙂
It has all the features you listed above, such as marquee selection, color feedback, intuitive button creation, I can say it has all the features that animschool picker has, but it is goes much more than a traditional picker tool.
although it indeed require a license to save the designed the picker, but it is free for animator to use the read-made picker. It is a mature solution to real production, no ad-bars, no time restriction like animschool picker does.
Please check out the demos for animator:
Thank Miguel ~
I haven’t checked these videos before. They are very informative and processes are demonstrated clearly. My job In the past didn’t involve that much serious character animation so we’ve been getting used to a simple quick selection set selector only.
Having picker and pose library in one solution looks handy too. I’ll check it again.
No problem 🙂
Also I made several video tutorials on ” mayapicker design in MG-Picker Studio”:
check it out 🙂 Hope it helps.
Having a picker template is nice. The tools are powerful but frankly speaking the UI is a bit too much to me. Will simplify it somehow if I’m writing it. Great work anyway.
